Ok, so I'd originally listed this as 4 stars. I believe, in my younger years, where I had much less experience in life and with men, I couldn't fully appreciate the plot of this book. But now I'm a bit older, I really really loved it!I loved that Michael was already in love with Francesca before the book began. Every Bridgerton book before this one, the hero had already decided that he wasn't going to fall in love. But this book was so different having Michael be in love with his cousin's wife.It was kind of hard reading about John's death and Francesca and Michael's grief. They both dealt with it in different ways, and unfortunately caused a 4 year separation. I loved how when he returned, they were able to pick right up, even with a small amount of awkwardness.I felt like their relationship changing from friendship to mutual desire and becoming lovers had a completely appropriate timeline. And once they started sleeping together, consent was a big deal to Michael. He would never do anything she didn't agree too. There are three detailed sex scenes and a couple of fade out scenes.I really loved how they both came to recognize that John would want his two favorite people to find happiness in each other. It took Francesca a little bit longer, but that made complete sense because of how much she had loved John.One more thing I loved about the story was how Francesca could tell that she loved each man differently, but that didn't mean that she loved either of them any less or any more than the other. It was just different. And that's how love is in real life. Always changing and expanding, but never diminishing. This is not a review on the Bridgerton books themselves (if you like the previous books or the Netflix show, you’ll probably like these as well). This is about the craziest publishing mistake I’ve seen. So- I bought “When He Was Wicked” (Book 6- Francesca’s Story) and “It’s In His Kiss” (Book 7- Hyacinth’s Story). I was reading “Wicked” page 277 where Francesca and Michael are on a horse in Scotland and I turned the page to 278 and suddenly Gareth (a previously unknown character in Bridgerton) is running through the streets of London looking for Hyacinth. WTF?!?! Then, on page 279 we are back in Scotland where Francesca and Michael are running for cover to a cottage, and there seems to be a problem with ‘Felix’, the previously unnamed horse. For a laugh I turned to page 278 in Hyacinth’s book (“Kiss”) to find out that ‘Felix’ the horse went lame, which is why Francesca and Michael ran to the cottage. Somehow, the publishers switched both pages 278 in the two books. How does that happen and not get caught? Or is it like the movie “Elf” and someone like Walter thought no one would notice what happened to a friggin’ puppy and a pigeon? Anyway, if you are reading “Wicked” and find a man named Gareth suddenly chasing Hyacinth, don’t worry- you just have to buy the other book for the missing page (and vice-versa). Could this be a genius new marketing technique? I legit kind of feel like I found a Golden Ticket and am left wondering what is to be my prize? 😉 Also, I have taken 3 pics to show the publisher’s page swap mistake for any doubters out there!
