3.5 stars. I feel like Lucy has so much potential to be an amazing author, she’s written some great books (Wilde Love, Taming Teddy, Nautical, King Me, even Facing West), but I wonder if she’s rushing her writing schedule too much or something? I feel like she’s just phoning it in with this series. I loved Winter Waites and Right as Raine, but have been disappointed with these last two. This one was definitely better than Sweet as Honey, but still not great. I liked the characters but they seemed a bit generic. I just want more from her! I’d rather have quality than quantity. Pretty good, but not one the author’s bests. There were a few things that felt odd:- Finn originally was described as someone who wanted to be romanced and very rarely ‘hooked up’ with others, yet he jumped into bed with the sheriff the first chance he got. I was expecting a bit more romancing from the Sheriff, or at least a longer conversation, before they slept together.- The Sheriff went from ‘Finn is a spoiled brat’ to ‘Finn is the love of my life’ in what felt like the blink of an eye. It was like someone flipped a switch in him and he suddenly went from insta-hate to insta-love. It was a bit too much, in my opinion. Honestly going from insta-hate to lust/attraction feels authentic, but going directly from insta-hate to ‘he’s my soulmate’ doesn’t feel believable.- I wish there was more of a confrontation between Finn and his Mom. I feel like there needed to be a conversation between the two so that all the crap that the Mom was pulling could be out in the open. You know, have a long talk then either hug it out or cut ties depending on how things went.
